We will hold monthly medicine and ceremonial space for all Indigenous, and BPOC staff, faculty, students, and community members, upon the xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam) lands and waterways we all gratefully share as friends and family. Sacred Fire offerings and light refreshments are provided.

Salmon Smoking Workshop

Join knowledge keepers Martin and Shona Sparrow from Sparrow Smoke House for a salmon smoking workshop at the xʷc̓ic̓əsəm garden, which is located on ancestral, traditional, and unceded Musqueam lands. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn about Indigenous food sovereignty and gain an understanding of the local Nation's salmon smoking protocols and practices. Martin and Shona will share their knowledge and expertise on traditional methods of smoking salmon and provide insight into the deep cultural significance of salmon and its importance in Indigenous communities.
Building Pathways for Regenerative Indigenous Land-Based Research and Education

In our first public event, some of our cluster members presented their research in the context of the multidimensional areas of Indigenous land-based health and wellness research, which included Indigenous knowledges, languages, geographies, orality, cosmologies, worldviews, Indigenous rights, relationality, reciprocity, ethical spaces, interconnectedness, and more. To that end, our members shared their perspectives, experiences, and challenges in the context of Indigenous health and wellness research, education, and practices.
To accommodate the needs of our communities, we provided in-person and online participation in which we were able to accommodate over 180 individuals throughout the event. Some of the audio-visual presentations will be uploaded on this website as well as on our social media platforms. Stay tuned!
